Translation
I can take on most translation projects in the medical field in the following language combinations:
French to English,
Greek to English,
Spanish to English.
In addition to documents in the medical field, I also translate:
documents in other technical fields within my capabilities,
general documents targeted at laypeople such as websites and physical materials related to tourism and the hospitality sector, food & drink, etc.
Editing services
If you have a text that is already in English, I can — depending on how finalised it is — either proofread it or edit it to make it publication-ready. I understand these tasks as follows:
Editing is for texts that still need substantial changes to become publication-ready. By default, editing is charged by time spent.
Proofreading should be the very last check before a text is published. As a proofreader, I check for errors at the level of individual characters and words such as missing punctuation or misspelt words. By default, proofreading is charged per word.
If you’re not sure whether your document requires editing or proofreading, send it to me so I can evaluate it — I’ll also provide a quote and delivery date at no cost and no obligation to you.
Other services
As a freelancer, I’m not boxed in by rigid or narrowly defined job descriptions. This means that in addition to the language services mentioned above, I have done other types of work, including:
subtitling. My preferred tool is Subtitle Edit but I’m willing to learn or use other tools as necessary,
copywriting,
writing scientific article abstracts,
in relation to scientific conferences: reviewing slideshows and designing posters.
My workstation
I have a Windows PC with the following software:
Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, …),
Translation aids: memoQ, Trados SDL Studio,
Affinity suite, for working with pixel graphics (Photo), vector graphics (Designer) and for page layout (Publisher),
Subtitle Edit.
