An ever-increasing problem in the languages sector is the presence of individuals presenting themselves as translators, copywriters, proofreaders, etc, but who have little or no professional training, skills, experience or scruples.
For this reason, I’d like to tell you exactly what you’re entitled to expect from me or indeed from any other freelancer.
PROMISE 1: I don’t take on projects that I can’t complete to a high level
When I’m offered a project, I will only accept it if I have sufficient knowledge, skills and time to complete it to a high level. When I have to decline work, I will recommend a trusted professional whenever possible.
PROMISE 2: I respect deadlines
Deadlines are sacred!
PROMISE 3: I maintain confidentiality at all times
Most documents I translate contain sensitive personal or commercial data, so I will not use machine translation or Artificial Intellligence (AI) tools without your knowledge or explicit permission.
PROMISE 4: I will not outsource your project behind your back
If I accept your project, I will do the work.
PROMISE 5: I raise queries when necessary
I wish I could always provide a hands-off approach for every translation/editing project I work on so clients could Send it, forget it, receive it. End of story! Unfortunately this is not always possible. Remember that few people read your text as completely, thoroughly and closely as the people who edit and translate it — if we need your input, it’s because we care about the quality of the final text.

Translation
I can take on most translation projects in the medical field in the following language combinations:
French to English,
Greek to English,
Spanish to English.
Editing services
If you have a text that is already in English, I can — depending on how finalised it is — either proofread it or edit it to make it publication-ready. Editing is for texts that still need substantial changes to become publication-ready. Proofreading should be the very last check before a text is published. As a proofreader, I check for errors at the level of individual characters and words such as missing punctuation or misspelt words.
If you’re not sure whether your document requires editing or proofreading, send it to me so I can evaluate it — I’ll also provide a quote and delivery date at no cost and no obligation to you.
Other services
As a freelancer, I’m not boxed in by rigid or narrowly defined job descriptions. This means that in addition to the language services mentioned above, I have done other types of work, including subtitling, copywriting, writing scientific article abstracts and, in relation to scientific conferences, reviewing slideshows and designing posters.
